The United Way of the Alberta Capital Region

We will be accepting donations of warm winter clothing at the Edmonton Christmas Market! We are stuffing the train with as many donations as we can. Visit the Edmonton Christmas Market Polar Express to drop off your donation and find out more ways to support this incredible cause!

About United Way

  • Established in 1941, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region takes a systems-wide approach to deliver a coordinated network of social programs and services addressing a range of needs for vulnerable children, families, and individuals.

  • United Way’s approach brings together social agencies, schools, organizations, and governments to collaborate and deliver local programs and services addressing the root causes of poverty. Working together, we minimize duplication and deliver larger scale impacts and lasting change.

  • Your contribution helps your neighbours – you will see the difference right here in the Alberta Capital Region.

About Coats for Kids and Families:

  • Coats for Kids & Families (CFKF) is a United Way program that has been keeping our community warm for over 30 years since 1992. We work to ensure families and individuals with limited resources have access to the proper winter outerwear needed for our cold Edmonton and area winters.

  • When you support United Way’s Coats for Kids & Families, you’re making sure families don’t have to choose between staying warm and putting food on the table.

  • Providing warm winter wear for low-income families in the Alberta Capital Region allows children to fully participate in outdoor activities, adults to work and live in our winter city, and newcomers to be prepared for our cold environment. Together, we can make sure no one in our community is left behind.

  • This year, we hope to bring in 9,000 coats and other winter items for people in need.

  • High needs items include men’s coats, kid’s coats, mittens, and gloves. We also accept monetary donations online, which help us bridge the gap and purchase high needs items.

  • Accepted items: Winter outerwear for men, women, children, and infants such as winter jackets, snow pants, toques, mitts, scarves, winter boots, and insulated work wear. All donated items must be clean and in good condition.

  • Items not accepted: Non-winter clothing and spring jackets. People can donate these items directly to one of the inner-city agencies or Goodwill.
