Strings for a Winter’s Night

Some sounds just belong to winter.

This holiday season, four of Western Canada’s most versatile classical musicians come together inside the Capitol Theatre for an intimate evening of live strings, set against a warm ambient glow.

Led by acclaimed Edmonton violist and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra musician Clayton Leung, the quartet brings together artists with deep roots in Edmonton’s music scene and careers that have taken them to stages well beyond it. Collectively, they have performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton and Alberta Baroque Ensemble, appeared as orchestral soloists, collaborated with contemporary and crossover artists, and performed on stages from Edmonton to Carnegie Hall. Their chamber music careers have taken them to concert series and festivals across Canada and internationally, while here at home, they continue to teach, mentor and help shape Alberta’s classical music community.

For Strings for a Winter’s Night, all of that experience comes together in a festive program of seasonal favourites. Four musicians, familiar melodies and the sound of live strings heard up close in the intimate Capitol Theatre. Come in from the cold, find your seat and hear the sounds of the season on a winter’s night.
